About Lanna Theological Center
Lanna Theological Center was founded in May 2003. It is the successor to two earlier schools, the Chiang Mai Bible Institute (established 1975) and the Center for Biblical Studies (established 1983). Both schools were established to meet diverse linguistic and cultural needs in the churches of North Thailand.
In the late 1990s, however, it became apparent that social changes in Thai society (and indeed all of South East Asia) was forcing both schools to implement new strategies for theological training. The boards of Southeast Asia Christian Services and the Youth Development Foundation began talking about how both schools could work together to better serve the Asian churches. These talks resulted in the merger of both schools into Lanna Theological Center.
Lanna Theological Center is a private Christian Center for church leadership training. The campus is located in San Sai District, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Chiang Mai is the "second city" of Thailand and is quickly becoming an important economic center for South East Asia. Lanna Theological Center is thus strategically located to serve the churches of Thailand and surrounding countries.

What is our Mission Statement![]() In Matthew 9:37 Jesus said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
As we look around southeast Asia we see a harvest that is plentiful. Yet, there are few workers to do the work. LTC exist to prepare workers for the Lord's Harvest. In light of that mission, we offer various kinds of programs and activities to help young Christians mature and be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to impact their communities for Christ. Who are our students?![]() Most of the students at Lanna Theological Center come from the eight northern provinces of Thailand.
Ten different language groups are represented in the current student body. Most students who attend LTC do receive sponsorship from somewhere. While our cost are low compared to other schools, it is still a reach for many of their families. We do provide Work Study programs for students who receive scholarship under CMO. The cost is $500 for one academic year. Click here if you or your group would like to sponsor one student. |
