CMO has a deep concern for the many orphans and at-risk youth in Northern Thailand. At-risk includes poverty, non-citizen status, dysfunctional family life, or loss of parents. CMO believes that the best way to affect change is through the principle of multiplication; people investing their life in the life of someone else, who invest in another and so on. Therefore, CMO seeks to partner with Orphanages, Youth Homes and local churches to help their youth be able to take the Next Step towards maturity and become leaders for their communities.
The Next Step Scholarship Fund offers an opportunity for at-risk youth who grew up in Christian orphanages and Youth Homes to attend Lanna Theological Centerin Chiang Mai, Thailand. LTC is a 4 year Leadership training college. Our focus is preparing and equipping students to serve the Church and be a positive influence in their community. Students study Bible, practical ministry courses, social sciences, and participate in hours of practicum experiences. LTC is both an academic and a discipleship program. The cost of attending LTC is $500 a year. This covers room and board and tuition. For many of our students this small amount is still a financial hardship. LTC strives to identify those who demonstrate faith and a commitment to serve God and provide financial scholarships to help them study. The way it works is this: LTC’s academic year runs from June to early March. In May, LTC faculty will review all new applicants to determine eligibility for admittance and scholarships. Once they have determined who is eligible for a Next Step Scholarship, the faculty will submit a request for funds to the CMO. CMO offers the opportunity for donors to go a step further and be a Mentor to one individual student. After scholarships are awarded, Mentors will receive a student profile. CMO will facilitate communication and send regular updates including ways to pray and encourage students.
